Connect ChatGPT

Not yet tested. We haven't walked through these steps in ChatGPT ourselves yet, so a menu or button may be named differently. If something doesn't match, tell us at support@flamap.app.

ChatGPT connects to servers like FlaMap through Developer mode. It works on ChatGPT for the web.

Before you start

  • A FlaMap account, and access to its email inbox.
  • A ChatGPT plan with Developer mode. OpenAI lists Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu. On Business, Enterprise and Edu, a workspace admin may have to allow it first.
  • A computer with a browser. The setup is on chatgpt.com, not in the mobile app.

Steps

  1. Open chatgpt.com and sign in.
  2. Open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode.
  3. In Settings, open Plugins and select + to create an app.
  4. Fill in:
    • Name: FlaMap
    • MCP Server URL: https://api.flamap.app/mcp
    • Authentication: OAuth
  5. Confirm that you trust the app, and select Create. A page on flamap.app opens.
  6. Sign in to FlaMap (Google or an emailed code).
  7. Read what ChatGPT is asking for and where your data goes. Tick the consent box (Approve stays greyed out until you do), then select Approve.
  8. You are back in ChatGPT. FlaMap is listed under Drafts in your app settings.

Check that it works

  1. Start a new chat.
  2. Select + in the message box, then Developer mode, and pick FlaMap.
  3. Ask: "Using FlaMap, what is my FTP?"

ChatGPT should call get_athlete_profile and show your FTP and your estimated FTP over recent months. All FlaMap tools are marked read-only, so ChatGPT should not ask you to confirm a write.

Your first real question

"Using FlaMap, compare my riding volume this month with the same month last year."

ChatGPT picks tools better when you name the server. More ideas are in the README.

FlaMap also has the search and fetch tools that ChatGPT's deep research uses, so you can ask it to look through your rides and routes by name.

Disconnect

In ChatGPT: open Settings → Plugins, select FlaMap, and delete it. Turning off Developer mode also stops ChatGPT from using it.

In FlaMap: open flamap.app/settings/ai-assistants and revoke ChatGPT. See the privacy page.

If something goes wrong

  • There is no Developer mode toggle: your plan does not include it, or your workspace admin has not allowed it. Also check that you are on chatgpt.com, not the app.
  • There is no way to add a server: turn on Developer mode first. Without it, the create button does not make MCP apps.
  • ChatGPT answers without using FlaMap: pick FlaMap under Developer mode in that chat, and name it in your question.
  • More in the README troubleshooting.
