The essentials about Flamap, plus how-tos straight from the app's help.

General

What is Flamap?

A cycling app to discover climbs near you, plan routes by sport and surface, and navigate them turn by turn.

Is Flamap free?

You can download Flamap and explore climbs and routes for free. Check the app for any premium features.

Where does Flamap work?

Climb discovery currently focuses on Catalonia, with detailed climb and terrain data. You can still plan and record rides elsewhere.

Can I take my routes to other devices?

Yes. Download any route as a standard GPX or FIT file and load it onto your head unit or into another app. You can import GPX and FIT files into Flamap too.

How are climbs categorized?

Climbs are colored by gradient and graded using UCI-style categories (HC, Cat 1–4) based on length and steepness.

How is my data handled?

Your account, routes and activities are yours — you can edit or delete them in the app. See our Privacy page for details.

Routes

How do I create a route?

Tap the map where you want to begin. A quick menu lets you choose "Use as Start" or "Add to Route". Keep tapping to drop more waypoints — the app snaps each one to the best cycling roads and draws the route between them automatically.

Can I add a waypoint by searching for a place?

Yes. Open the search bar in the bottom sheet, search for any place, then tap a result to add it to your route. You can also tap "Use Current Location" to start the route from where you are.

What can I do with a waypoint?

Tap any waypoint to open its menu. From there you can Move it, Replace it with a new location, Rename it, Set it as the route's endpoint, or Delete it. You can also drag a waypoint directly on the map to move it.

How do I reorder or reverse a route?

In the route list, drag the handle on any waypoint to change its order. To flip the whole route so you ride it in the opposite direction, open the route menu and tap "Reverse".

How do I change the route type, hills or surface?

Open the routing preferences to pick your sport — Road, Gravel or MTB — and tell the app how to treat hills (Any, Avoid or Maximize) and surface (Any, Paved or Dirt). The route recalculates to match your choice.

Can I undo a change to my route?

Yes. Use the Undo and Redo buttons in the route toolbar to step backwards or forwards through your edits, so you can experiment freely without losing your work.

How do I save a route?

Once you are happy with your route, open the route menu and tap Save. Give your route a name and it will be stored in your profile for easy access later.

What is the difference between "Save" and "Save As"?

"Save" updates the route you are currently editing. "Save As" keeps the original untouched and stores your changes as a brand-new route — handy for creating a variation without losing the original.

How do I rename a route or edit its details?

Open the route menu and tap "Edit Info". There you can change the route's name, city and country, and toggle whether it stays a private draft.

How do I delete a saved route?

Open the route menu and tap Delete. You will be asked to confirm before the route is permanently removed from your profile.

Downloads

How do I download or export a route?

Open the route menu and tap "Share GPX". This exports your route as a standard GPX file that you can save or open in other apps.

Can I import a GPX or FIT file?

Yes. Tap the import button in the search area to pick a GPX or FIT file, or share a file to the app from another app. When you import a FIT file the app asks whether to bring it in as a Route (to ride) or an Activity (a past ride).

How do I share a route with someone?

Open the route menu and tap "Share" to create a shareable link. Anyone with the link can open the route. To send the raw file instead, use "Share GPX".
